Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is a process that can be beneficial to everyone. Culturally mental health is viewed as an illness or for “crazy people.” This couldn’t be farther from the truth. It is a chance to share things that are happening, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and be met with compassion, validation, empathy, and new perspectives. It is a chance to explore thoughts, beliefs, values, attitudes, relationships, and so much more.
You deserve to feel heard and understood in a safe space without judgment

How Does Individual Counseling Work?
Free Consultation
During the free consultation, we will explore the reasons why you are seeking therapy, and discuss how I can help. You will be able to ask any questions you have regarding the process, and if we think we are a good fit, a session will be scheduled.
2. Initial Assessment
The initial assessment is designed to gain background information, understand more of what you want from therapy, set specific goals, and explore any fears or doubts you may have about starting therapy.
3. Collaborative Work
Collaborative work involves diving into identifying patterns that may not be helping you progress in life. We will develop a self-care plan, gain coping skills, and develop an individualized treatment plan to best serve you.
4. Ongoing Sessions
Ongoing sessions allows for deeper exploration into symptoms, patterns, while starting to gain skills and tools you can implement into everyday life. We work together to start making changes so that you can reach your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does therapy take?
On average most client’s engage in counseling for 12-20 sessions, although life circumstances, goals, among other factors impact the frequency and duration of therapy. There is no hard and fast rule about how long therapy takes. I recommend people engage in weekly or bi-weekly sessions to start and as you see progress, we can then spread out sessions.
I have managed my problems thus far, can therapy still help me?
Absolutely! I did not become a therapist to get you to a place of managing your symptoms. I became a therapist to help you heal. I strive to help you understand where your symptoms came from in the first place and work to create healing around that so you can reach your full potential.
How quickly will I start to feel better?
The therapy journey is different for everyone. In my practice people generally start feeling better within the first 4 sessions. It is normal to feel nervous at the beginning of the first couple sessions as we build a therapuetic relationship. You will feel validated, heard, listened to, safe, and in control which helps to make you feel better already.
